Amy Gragert married Peter J. Paulsen on November 1, 1930 in Nashua, Iowa. They separated ca. 1939 according to newspaper articles and may have reconciled or never divorced. She was born August 22, 1911 and died August 10, 2000 in Valparaiso, Indiana. Her obituary says that she graduated from Iowa Falls High School. Dows High School is listed in records, however.

Frank Gragert Funeral Set for Sunday
DOWS — Funeral services for Frank E. Gragert, 75, will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Erickson Funeral Home here. He died Thursday at the home of a daughter in Valparaiso, Ind. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at Dows. Mr. Gragert was born July 20, 1881, in Vernon Township near Dows and farmers for many years in the area. He is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Harry (Vera) Athens and Amy Paulsen, both of Valparaiso; Mrs. Leonard (Charlotte) Faust, Dows; Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Osborne, Stoutland, Mo., and Mary Gunderson, Mason City; a son, Roy Gragert, Rock Falls, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Martin, Dows; Miss Rosetta Gragert, Chicago, and two brothers, Ernest Dows, and Louis, Wayzata, Minn. There are 16 grandchildren.

Amy L. Paulsen, 88, of Valparaiso, passed away on Thursday, August 10, 2000 at the VNA Mary Bartz Hospice. She was born August 22, 1911 in Dows, Iowa, to Frank and Charlotte (Schroder) Gragert and graduated from high school in 1929 in Iowa Falls. An area resident since 1946, she had worked as a bookkeeper for Northern Indiana Bank, First National Bank and Miracle Water, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Heritage Lutheran Church and was active in planning trips and traveling with the Banta Senior Center. On November 1, 1930, in Nashua, IA, she married Peter J. Paulsen, who preceded her in death in 1982. Surviving are two children, Sondra (Daro) Taber and James Paulsen, both of Valparaiso; two sisters, Ruth Osborn of Minnesota and Mary Christiansen of Iowa; six grandchildren: Lee Paulsen, Julie Paulsen, Valerie Dominick, Phillip Taber, Cynthia McCree and Amber Johnson; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held Sunday, 2 P.M. at the Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, Indiana, the Rev. Joseph Ostafinski officiating. Entombment of ashes at the Graceland Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to the VNA Mary Bartz Hospice or Heritage Lutheran Church.
