William “Bill” O. Miltenberger, 86, of Sloan, Iowa passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at his residence surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 24, 2024 at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian and Pastor Kody Killian, officiating. Masonic Rites will follow the service at the church led by Steve Jewett, orator. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Bill’s obituary. Burial will follow the service at the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
William Orville was born April 3, 1938 on a farm near Sloan, Iowa, the son of Orville and Lucille (Woidneck) Miltenberger. He grew up in Sloan and graduated from Sloan High School with the class of 1956. In Bill’s younger years he had a passion for playing his alto and soprano saxophones. Bill enlisted in the Air National Guard and was a Staff Sergeant for the mechanic’s crew, based in Sioux City, Iowa during the Korean conflict.
Bill and Penny (Ooten) were united into marriage December 27, 1958 at the Mayflower Congregational Church in Sioux City, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Debra and Rebecca.
Bill had a passion for farming. He also enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, golfing, dancing, and playing cards. Bill was a member of the Attica Lodge # 502 A.F. & A.M. of Sloan, Iowa, Abu Bekr Shrine and Scottish Rite of Sioux City, Iowa, and a past president of the Monona County Farm Bureau. He was also a member of the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Penny Miltenberger; two children, Debra (Jamal) Miltenberger Naas, and Rebecca (Vincent) Miltenberger Orr; three grandchildren, Brenna Orr Lyons, Deena (David) Orr Olsen, and Erika Orr; great-grandchildren, Gabe Geiger, Liam Olsen, Hannah Lyons, Kole Lyons, Karl Brooks, Jr., Bill Brooks, Emily Brooks, Richard Gilbert, and Ronnie Belcastro; one sister, Beverly (Steve) Longval; and many other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Lucille (Woidneck) Miltenberger.
