Helen J. Koch

Helen J. Koch, 82, formerly of Brighton, died late Thursday, Nov. 4, 1999, at the Washington Care Center. she had been a resident there for the past three years.

A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Brighton United Church in Brighton with the Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton. A visitation with the family present will be 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Gould Funeral Home in Brighton. A general memorial has been established.

Mr. Koch was born oct. 11, 1917, in rural Brighton, the daughter of Lloyd and Neva Morse Jones. She married Howard "Hi" Koch Feb. 9, 1938, in Fairfield. He died Feb. 1, 1980.

She grew up in Brighton area and graduated from Brighton High School in 1037. Mrs. Koch was a farm wife, active in sewing, gardening and card playing. she lived all of her life in the local area until moving to Waymar Apartments in Wayland in 1990. She was a member of the Brighton United Church, Martha Circle and was formerly a member of Pythian Sisters in Brighton.

Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Schultz of Brighton, and three granddaughters.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donnie; and two sisters: Irene Burkey and Myra Hahn.
