Loren E. Constable, 63, died suddenly on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at his home in Norwalk. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service to honor Loren’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, December 29, at Iles Funeral Homes – Westover Chapel in Des Moines. There will be no visitation. A private committal service will take place at a later date.

Loren was born on June 15, 1943 in Princeton, MO to Bernard and Doris Putnam Constable. On October 10, 1960, he married Paula A. Norton in Milan, MO. In 1975, they moved to Norwalk, Iowa, where they made their home.

Loren was formerly employed with Hockenburg-Newburgh and Mid-States Marketing as a food broker for more than 30 years, until he retired in 2004. Loren was also the former owner of the Norwalk Maid-Rite and the Beaverdale Maid-Rite, prior to purchasing the Valley Junction Maid-Rite in 1992 and is still the current owner. Owning the Maid-Rite restaurants was not only a hobby of his, it was also a dream Loren loved and fulfilled everyday. Loren also was an avid horse racing fan.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Paula Constable of Norwalk; one son, David (Theresa) Constable of Urbandale; one daughter, Denise (Bob) Beener of Norwalk; one sister, Darleen Cummings of Kansas City, MO; two granddaughters, Lisa and Sarah Constable both of Urbandale; several nieces and nephews; and a very special family friend, Debbie McMichael of Norwalk. Loren was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
