My great-great-great grandmother was Phoebe McCandless born about 1811 in Ireland. She is shown in the 1840 Ohio census with husband John (b. in Pennsylvania) and children. All of their children were born in Ohio. She is listed in Burlington Census in 1850 and 1860. In 1870 in Pontoosuc, Hancock, Illinois census at age 58, and Arthur, age 5. In the 1880 census she was in Ottumwa, Wappello County, Iowa as a boarder with W. J. McKinney age 30 (whose mother and father were born in Ireland) and Mary A. McKinney age 31 and Sarah J. McKinney age 21. In the 1870 Illinois census she was also a neighbor with son David McCandless who was a fisherman and his wife Mary and child Minnie age 1. Was her maiden name McKinney? Did she die in Ottumwa? Any information would be appreciated.
