Judith A. "Judi" Sands, 69, of 321 S. Ward St., died at 7:52 p.m., October 6, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born January 27, 1943, in Ottumwa, IA, to William L. and Thedis Orene Harwood Anderson. She married Jerry Sands December 22, 1961.
Judi graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1961.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed spending time with her family and working on genealogy.
Surviving is her husband, Jerry; three sons, Jeffrey (Lisa) Sands of Freeport, IL, Jonathan Sands of West Des Moines, Jason (Kim) Sands of Ripley, TN; three daughters, Julie McKillip of West Des Moines, Jodi (Shawn) Dills of Vandalia, OH, Joanna (Jason) Katcher of West Des Moines; 24 wonderful grandchildren; a foreign exchange student daughter, Sandra (Matin) Hernandez of Thousand Oaks, CA; a brother, Stephen (Roberta) Anderson of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and an infant sister, Joyce Colleen Anderson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Ottumwa with Bishop Ruston Ford officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday, at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
