The Funeral of the late Grandma Gardner was held Thursday, Aug 25th, for the Columbia Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev Wm H Slack, of Oskaloosa and Rev G W Barber, her pastor. Jane Conley was born in Tyrene county Ireland, une 4 1833. She was twice married. First union was that of Mr Joseph Johnson, Sept 12, 1853; and to this union were born 8 children, four sons and four daughters; one daughter died in infancy and died Jan 19, 1906. The father died December 30th, 1877. She was then married to Mr Joseph Gardner March 1879. He died September 1883, at the age of 62 years. (Obit is broke up, and doesnt flow,)The departed sister in the church, wife and mother died Tuesday morming, at 6 oclock, Aug 23, leaving to mourn her loss 3 boys and 3 girls, Hugh of Knoxville, MissMary at home. James, Joseph, Nancy A Chapman and Mrs Ella J Gardner all of this community. She leaves 21 grandchildresn and 3 great grandchildren. Burial Columbia Cemetery.
