28Yr old, Ottumwa, died at 11:40 am., at the Ottumwa hospital from a fractured back suffered Friday in an accident a the Bidwell Co Coal mine near Christianburg. House lived at 313 W Finley Ave, was riding a mine shaft care alone when the mishap occured. It was believed he was crushed between part of the scaffolding. He was born in Waterloo, March 15, 194. After living there a time as a child, returned to the city 6 years ago.
He was a graduate of Chariton high school and had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church here. surviving are his parents, T A House of Chicago, his mother Mrs Margaret Smith of Chariton, a brother, Floyd E House of Indianola, his grandparents, Mr and Mrs L T McCoy of Ottumwa, and Mr and Mrs John House of Centerville. One sister preceded him in death in 1916. Funeral services were held and burial in Brooks Cemetery.
