Eldon, situated on the Des Moines River, at the junction of the Chicago & Southwestern & Des Moines Valley Railroads, has in a little more than one year grown from nothing to a village containing five dry goods, a grocery store, two hotels, a church and a roundhouse of the C. & S. W. R. R. Already two other hotels are projected and prosperity chimes brightly over the future of this thriving town.
