LOCAL COUPLE TO WED AT CARNIVAL

INTERESTING CEREMONY TO BE PERFORMED TOMORROW EVENING ON THE SOUTH SIDE

ARRANGED BY COMPANY

D.E. Minor and Miss Rosa A. Amelang Will be the Principals In an Unique Event–Will Receive Many Presents of Value.

D.E. Minor of the city and Miss Rose A. Amelang, who lives south of the city, will enter into a new epoch of the bride and groom to be and will most peculiar condition [sic - this phrase transcribed as written] when they will be united in marriage at the carnival on the South Side, the ceremony to be performed before the eyes of the entire multitude of sight seers visiting the attractions at that time.

The management has taken all the details of the wedding off the hands of the bride and groom to be and will attend to all preliminary arrangements. The minister will be provided as well as the marriage license and all bills will be footed by the carnival company. A carriage will be furnished by them for the bride and a varied assortment of furniture, provisions and other necessary articles for a newly wedded pair will be given the young couple with which to start out in life. The wedding ring is being made by O.C. Arnold, the jeweler and will be presented to the bride. The event is attracting great interest and will undoubtedly be witnessed by a large throng.

(Note: As promised in this article, David Minor and Rosa Amelang were married on June 13, 1907, in Wapello County, Iowa. They had been married for 40 years when David died August 27, 1947, in Ottumwa. Rosa died August 29, 1975, in Ottumwa. Both are buried in Shaul Cemetery.)
