The marriage of Miss Dell Blackford, second daughter of Mrs. Nellie Blackford, to Warren J. Lewis of Long Beach, Cal. was solemnized Wednesday, October 29th at high noon at the First Baptist Church, Rev. B. A. Patt officiating. Miss Katherine Weeks sang J. W. Bischoff's "Star of my Soul," preceding the ceremony. At twelve o'clock, as B. O. Worrell at the pipe organ, began the music of Mendelsson's march, Miss Pearl Blackford, a sister of the bride as made of honor entered, followed by the bride, on the arm of her uncle, Dr. D. D. Proper of Omaha. They were met at the altar by the groom attended by the best man, Orval Machogan of Chicago, and the officiating clergyman, Rev. Patt. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Dr. Proper, as the beautiful ring service was performed.
Mr. and Mrs. Lewis left Wednesday afternoon for Long Beach, where the groom has a home prepared. They will be at home after Dec. 1, at 1737 Appleton street, Long Beach.
Mrs. Lewis, who has always made her home in Ottumwa, is a graduate of the class of 1910 Ottumwa high school and is a popular member of the social circles here. Mr. Lewis is the son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Lewis, formerly of this city. He was educated in the Ottumwa and Long Beach high schools and also attended the state university of California. He is at present in business in Long Beach. – – Ottumwa Courier
