Alverson, Benjamin, farmer, Sec. 36, P.O. Batavia, born October 15, 1816, in Garrard Co., Kentucky; in 1848, came to Wapello Co., owns forty acres of land, valued at $30 per acre. Married Celesta Hart in 1837; she was born in 1816 in Garrard Co., Kentucky; had eleven children, seven living - J.E., Mary E., Lucinda F., Joseph H., William B., Sarah A. and James B. Has been Constable and Justice of the Peace. Democrat.

Note: in their marriage record, Celesta's surname is listed as Hurt. The correct spelling has not been verified from other sources.
