James Russell Wilkinson

James Russell Wilkinson, 81, of Eldon died at 11:52 a.m. Oct. 2, 1991, at Ottumwa Regional Center.

He was born Jan. 15, 1910, in Anoka, Minn., to James and Gertrude Alcock Wilkinson. He married Luella Mills in 1928. She died in 1929. He married Thelma Winsell Jan. 3, 1932, in Central City.

He attended school in Central City and later farmed there. He moved to Selma in 1940 where he worked for John Morrell & Co. in Ottumwa. He moved to Eldon in 1963. He was a member of Independent Order of Odd Fellows Lodge 350.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Phyllis Canaday of Birmingham, Jacqueline Longnecker of Indianapolis, Ind., Ruth Brown of Ottumwa, Karen Smith of Hedrick and Rita Frette of Story City; two sons, Wilfred of Marion and Charles of Selma; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Leona Wise of Central City.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond, Kenneth, Gerald and Charles; a sister Arlene Hart; and an infant son.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 1991 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds, the Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial was in Winsell Cemetery north-east Selma.

Memorials may be made to Eldon Rescue Unit.
