Former Story County Woman Laid to Rest Here Sunday
The body of Miss Jessie Converse, who died at the Eastern Star home at Guthrie, Okla., on Tuesday of last week, arrived in the city Sunday morning at 8:20 over the Rock Island and taken to the Morfoot Funeral home where it was held until 1:30, when a short committal service was held at the grave in the Nevada cemetery.
The body was accompanied by the brother, Herbert Converse and wife of West Point, Miss., and numerous relatives and friends joined in the service at the grave which was in charge of Rev. C. E. Lookingbill.
Miss Converse, born on a farm near Colo, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. B. Converse, had lived in Nevada as a girl and graduated from the schools of this city with the class of 1898. She later taught in the North school in Nevada and in the schools of McCallsburg. After going to Oklahoma she also taught there for many years at Alva, and became a past matron of the Eastern Star there. She entered the Eastern Star home at Guthrie about five years ago.
One sister, Mrs. Ida Johnson, with the parents, preceded her in death. She is survived by three brother, Herbert, of West Point, Miss., Ray of Texas, and Harold of Kansas City, Mo.
