Funeral Services for Lars H. Amdal

McCallsburg, May 9--The funeral of Lars Amdal, 87, who passed away May 2, was held Monday afternoon at the Bergen's Lutheran church at Roland following a prayer service at Sunset home at Story City. The services were in charge of the pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstad assisted by Rev. Peter Buland of the home. Music was furnished by Harris Twedt who sang at the home and the church, and a choir at the church.

The pallbearers were Clifford Amdall, Leslie and Carroll Pearson, Marvin Sandvick, Arlo Stoltenburg and Arnold Skaartvedt. Burial was made in the Roland cemetery.

Lars Amdal, son of Gunder and Martha Aase Amdal, was born at Sevde, Norway, Nov.4, 1853, and passed away at Sunset home in Story City Friday, May 2, '41, at the age of 87 years and 6 months.

Mr. Amdal came to America at the age of 21 years, and on Feb. 4, 1887 was married to Jane Twedt. They made their home since in the vicinity of McCallsburg with the exception of 10 years spent at Dallas, Wis., and the short time they have been at Sunset home in Story City, which they entered on March 6, 1939.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Gerhard Amdal, Mrs. Clarence Pearson, Mrs. Arnie Sandvick of McCallsburg, Mrs. Sam Arnold of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Hanna Israel of Chicago, Mrs. Chris Holt and Mrs. John Thorsnes of Story City, also 29 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, also a brother, Knute Amdal of Kirkhoven, Minn., and a sister, Ragnela Peterson of Ellsworth, Ia.

The children were all present for the funeral with the exception of Mrs. Israel. Others from away at the funeral included Mrs. C. T. Thoreson and Carol, Mrs. Raymond Heriem and Gilbert Amdal of Wallingford, Ia., Mrs. Walter Fox of Newton and Mrs. Earl Fenn of Colfax.
