Funeral Rites for John C. Scott Thursday Morning

Funeral rites for John Scott, 23, who died at Iowa sanitarium at 3 p. m. Monday from the effects of injuries sustained in a motor accident Thursday evening, March 20, when a motor car he was driving skidded off the paving and turned over on top of the guard cable, will be held on Thursday morning at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Colo, with his pastor, Rev. James Mahoney in charge. Burial will be in St. James cemetery.

John Clifford Scott was born at St. Thomas hospital, Marshalltown, June 29, 1917, a son of Ray and Lillian Niland Scott. He attended and graduated from the Roosevelt high school during the time the family lived in Des Moines finishing with the class of 1936. More recently he had been at Colo with the exception of the past eight months when he had been employed in Columbus, Ohio, having but recently returned to his home in Colo for brief vacation.

In his immediate family he leaves his mother, Mrs. Lillian Scott, of Colo, the father, Ray W. Scott, of Ohio, sister, Mary Scott, R. N., Des Moines; two brothers, Ray, of Fort Snelling, and Jimmy, at home, his grandmother, Mrs. Anna Niland, his great-grandmother, Mrs. Reed, Sr., his uncle, Charles Reed, and various other relatives.
