SIOUX CENTER, Iowa ~ Timothy “Tim” Peter Dykstra, 70, of Sioux Center, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024, at his residence, under the care of his wife and Sioux Center Hospice, following a 3-year battle with cancer.

Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, October 12, 2024, followed by a short Memorial Service at 3:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room at Centerpoint Church in Sioux Center. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, Tim’s family prefers memorials to be given to Sioux Center Hospice in his memory.

Timothy “Tim” Peter Dykstra was born April 13, 1954, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Peter and Grace (Leusink) Dykstra. He grew up in Hull, Iowa where he attended Christian Elementary School and graduated from Western Christian High School. He then attended Northwest Iowa Community College and graduated from the Electrician Program.

Tim married June Mulder on August 3, 1979, at his parent’s home in Hull. They moved to Red Oak, Iowa where he was employed for O’Neal Electric for 1 year. They returned to Hull and Tim drove trucks until 1989, when they moved to Sioux Center, Iowa. Tim worked for the City of Sioux Center for 25 years as an electric lineman. He retired from the city and began driving trucks again.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his wife June. They took many trips together on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, taking rides in the area and to the Black Hills and Yellowstone. Tim enjoyed riding and keeping his Harley running smoothly and looking sharp!

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, June; son, Nic and his wife Jordanna and their son Niles Timothy Dykstra of Des Moines, Iowa; brother, John Dykstra and his wife Donna of Hull; and two sisters, Laine Dykstra of Sioux Center, Iowa and Nancy Runquist of Lovilia, Iowa; also June’s siblings and their spouses and many nieces and nephews.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Grace; June’s parents, Irwin and Gertrude Mulder; and a stillborn son, Gabriel Peter Dykstra.
