Ned Orlin Vander Wiede was born November 1, 1951, in Sioux Center, Iowa to William and Esther (Roskamp) Vander Weide.
Ned was raised and attended school in Pella, Iowa. He joined the United States Marine Corps. In 1971 and was awarded a National Defense Medal and a Rifle Sharpshooter Badge. He served in the Hawaii Driver Improvements CRS, MCI, and in Washington D.C. Maintenance of LVTP5A1. He was also awarded the good Conduct Certificate. He was Honorably Discharged in November of 1975.
Ned lived in Colfax, IA with his life-loving mate, Cindy Bacon. They have one son, Dustin Vander Weide and he has a son, Jason Vander Weide from a previous marriage, and loved stepchildren Ashley, Angie, David (Jeri) and Cyle (Leanna) Bacon. They have six grandchildren whom Ned and Cindy treasured.
Ned was a logger by trade. He was a friend to many and loved by most. There is nothing he couldn’t do and wouldn’t do for his friends and others.
He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, and spending time with his son Dustin.
Ned is lovingly remembered by his brother, Harvey (Lois) Vander Weide; sisters, Marva Hollebrands, Carl Budding, Sally (Carl) Vandusseldorp, Jayne (Steve) Languard, Kimberly (Matt) Hansen, and stepbrother, Kinney (Sharon) Tromp.
Ned is preceded in death by his parents, his stepfather, Cornie Tromp, his brother-in-law and friend Steve Hollebrands and Steve Budding.
Ned was a treasured authentic man, mate, father, brother, and friend. He was a hard worker, loved and played hard!
Services will be at a later date at the Veteran's Cemetery in Van Meter. Go in Peace!
