Education: Attended country school through Grade 8, and graduated from Harlan (IA) High School with the Class of 1964

Religious affiliation: Baptized and later confirmed at St. Mary of Assumption Catholic Church, Panama, IA

Military service: Drafted into the U. S. Army in 1967 and served with honor; was awarded a Purple Heart after being injured by a grenade during the Vietnam War.

Marriages: (1) Linda McConkey; Sep. 6, 1969; location not provided (2) Ruth Hipsher; Oct. 8, 1994; at the home of Ruth’s mother in Omaha, NE

Employment: Worked various jobs, including at the Harlan (IA) Pork Plant, then Orkin, before driving a milk truck for Dave Christensen, followed by working at Bailen’s in Denison, IA. For the past 37 years, Patrick spent his career as a welder at Jacob’s Corporation; he retired on April 12, 2010.

Hobbies/Interests: Had a deep love for country music and enjoyed a cold Coors Light, especially while attending truck pulls, where he and Ruth were honored as Fans of the Year; was an avid NASCAR and stock car racing fan; loved tending his vegetable garden, making salsa, and preserving food for the winter months. Mostly he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
