Employment: After graduating from high school, Roger was employed to put up electrical lines in southwest Iowa; after a brief period, he returned to his true love of farming. After his marriage, he enjoyed raising cattle on their farm in rural Rorbeck, IA.
Hobbies/Interests: Enjoyed traveling with the family in a pickup camper all over the country; later, he and Jackie traveled in a motorhome, including a driving trip to Belize and enjoying ocean cruises and river boats. They were snowbirds for over 40 years, spending the winters in Brownsville, TX; there, Roger enjoyed playing cards, joining activities by the pool, and socializing with friends. Liked to fish and enjoy a Saturday night polka dance; enjoyed gardening, golf, and water skiing when the boys were younger. He also enjoyed carpentry work. In 1983 they moved to town to the home he built and still reside in. Even after he “retired,” he continued to be part of the family farming operations. Mostly, he loved it when family could be together.
