my family's history

HUGH SHAW MARRIED TO MARY EMMELINE JENNINGS SHAW, AND, GUY ERNEST POLLEY MARRIED TO MARY ELLEN STEPHENS POLLEY

I know very little about my family on both my mother and father's side. I know the Polleys were farmers north of Redding later retiring in Mount Ayr. The Shaws lived in Redding until their death.

Where do I find information on both of these families? Like: What brought them to Ringgold County, where were they from before that, etc.?
