RAYMOND ALBERT "PAT" RICE

Raymond Albert "Pat" Rice, son of Lawrence J. and Dency L. Rice, was born July 3, 1916 at Audubon, Iowa and passed away at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa on April 6, 2004 at the age of 87 years, nine months and three days.

In 1939 he was united in marriage to Iola Catterson and of this union seven children were born. They moved to the farm in 1943 where he resided until the time of his death.

He farmed his entire life, enjoyed saddle club activities, gardening and spending time with family. Playing pitch with grandchildren was a favorite pasttime. Finding the best garage sale was a favorite pastime in later life

He leaves to mourn five children and two sons-in-law, Judith Mott, Patty Wimer and husband Bill, Karen Wells and husband Gary, Vickey Adams and Mickey Dennis; 13 grandchildren, Eric and Jason Mott, Kevin Wimer, Denise Kelley, Kurtis Wimer, Lance and Ryan Wells, Dana Baker, Darin Adams, Dawn Anderson and David, Chris and Brent Dennis; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchid; two brothers, Bob and Gary; and three sisters, Tye Wyss, Patricia King and Tini Rice.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two infant children, parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 9, 2004 at Wilson-Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Reverend Rick Hawkins officiating. Musicians were Deb Cannon, Mary Davenport and Margaret Bickers. Casket bearers were Darin Adams, Brent Dennis, Chris Dennis, David Dennis, Eric Mott, Jason Mott, Lance Wells, Ryan Wells, Kevin Wimer and Kurtis Wimer.

He was laid to rest in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Mount Ayr.
