Obituary - Roy E. Strode

Roy Emerson Strode was born May 6, 1889 in Smithfield, Illinois, and departed this life July 6, 1961 in the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

The son of Isaac Strode and Lois Baughman Strode, he spent his early boyhood in Illinois and came to Kellerton about 1913.

On February 2 (1), 1915, he was united in marriage with Minnie Gail Bowlby at Bethany, Mo. He was a long time member of the Methodist Church.

An infant daughter Mabelle preceded him in death.

Left to mourn his death are his widow, a son Robert of the home, one brother Paul, of Claremore, Oklahoma and other relatives and a host of friends .

Funeral services were held Sunday Afternoon from the Methodist Church in Kellerton conducted by the Rev. Richard T. Hohl. Jack Hughes sang, accompanied by Suzanne Sissel. Flower bearers were Mrs. Floyd Hanks and Mrs. Neoma Huss and casket bearers were Lloyd Gilliland, Orr Allen, Raymond Brooks, Chester Munyon, Jamie Meadows and Albert Allen. Interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery in Kellerton.
