Obituary:
Carl Allen Hogue, son of William Allen and Clara Olive Vance, was born June 4, 1894 in Foosland, Illinois, Champaign County and departed this life August 4, 1989 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr, Iowa at the age of 95 years and 2 months.

In the spring of 1902 he moved with his parents to Ringgold County in the Kellerton area. Growing up on a farm with five brothers and two sisters.

When WW I broke out Carl joined the armed forces and served a time in France. Upon his discharge he returned home. He is the last survivor in the county in Company A of 334 Macline, Germany. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Carl served on the Ringgold County Hospital Board for 8 years and County Tax Review Board for 23 years.

Carl started carpentry and farm work when he met the girl of his dreams and married Mabel Wells on March 11, 1924 in Leon, Ia. They were privileged to spend nearly 63 years together. Doing some farming and then to full time carpenter with 7 crews under him in the 1930s. He has built several of the big homes in Mount Ayr and Ringgold County until his retirement. He spent a few years in Ellston then later moved to Kellerton and resided till 1981 when Mabel entered Clearview Home in Mount Ayr and Carl joined her in 1986. Mabel passed away March 4, 1987.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Harvey, Roy and Russell, and two sisters Myrtle Pershin and Marie Thompson.

He is survived by two brothers, Charlie Hogue and wife Jean of Schaller and Hallie and wife Maurine of Ankeny, Ia. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law Leota Hogue and Hazel Hogue of Mount Ayr, several nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
