OBITUARY ~ JERRY LEOVERN MATHANY
July 30, 1935 ~ May 25, 2018

Jerry LeoVern Mathany, son of Francis Leonard and Lula LaVern (Ellison) Mathany, was born July 30, 1935 at the family home near Beaconsfield, Iowa.

Jerry grew up on a farm and was always a farmer. Jerry was one of eleven children. He was a caregiver to his younger siblings and helped them as they grew up. Jerry was a quiet man, yet he would carry on long conversations with those he felt most comfortable with. He enjoyed going places with his friends and playing cards.

Jerry passed away May 25, 2018 at the Greater Regional Hospice House in Creston, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Doris Dailey, Deane Mathany, Merlyn Mathany, and Sue Johnson.

Survivors include his siblings Merna Laird of Spencer, IA, Loretta (Ron) Kelly of Afton, IA, Dave (Linda) Mathany of Woodburn, IA, Lenora Newton of Des Moines, IA, Richard (Deb) Mathany of Des Moines, IA, and Donna (Ron) Hendriks of Osage, IA; nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Oliver Cemetery, southwest of Beaconsfield, IA with Pastor June Nolte-Davis officiating. A light lunch will follow at the Beaconsfield United Methodist Church.
