OBITUARY ~ ALGIE D. SAVILLE
Algie Daryle SAVILLE, son of Guy SAVILLE and Ida FORBES SAVILLE, was born Aug. 18, 1913 at Redding, Iowa, and died peacefully at the Ringgold County hospital in Mount Ayr on Oct. 23, 1983.
Algie graduated from Redding High School at age 16, and entered the armed services in 1941, serving as a dental laboratory technician in the Philippine Islands in New Guinea until 1945. He married Colleene SKINNER on Sept. 18, 1955, and to this union one daughter, Vickie Lea, who passed away at the age of 18 after a lengthy illness.
Algie was a school bus driver for 26 years. He worked at the service station in Redding for 20 years and at the Redding Feed Store for 10 years. He was a member of the Taylor Masonic Lodge #156 and served as Worthy Master in 1971. He was also a member of the American Legion.
Algie and Colleene lived in Redding all their married years, but moved to Mount Ayr for health reasons a week before Algie's death.
Algie was baptized in the Christian faith in his home Oct. 19, along with his wife, Colleene. Friends and family were with them to share that moment that was so important to Algie.
Algie was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Lea; by his parents, Guy and Ida SAVILLE; by his sister, Audrey NURNBERGER; and by his mother-in-law, Ruth SKINNER.
Algie was much loved and will be deeply missed by his wife Colleene; his siter, Treva HANSEN; his brother, Alden SAVILLE and wife, Viola; his father-in-law, Merrill SKINNER; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Lowell and Alice HOWIE and Donald and Nancy SAVILLE, many nieces, nephews and cousins, and a host of friends.
Services were held at the Wilson-Watson Funeral Home in Mount Ayr with Rev. Ed KAIL officiating. Graveside services were by Taylor Lodge # 156, A.F. & A.M. Casketbearers were: nephews Carl SAVILLE, Daryl SAVILLE, Jerry SAVILLE, John SAVILLE, ROger SAVILLE and Scott SAVILLE. Burial was in the Redding Cemetery, beside his daughter, Vickie.
