MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. — Mr. Ralph "Jack" SHAY, of Mountain Home, Ark., 81, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, in Mountain Home.
Born Friday, May 11, 1928, in Creston, Iowa, he was the son of Hulan "Hap" and Mildred (JOHNSTON) SHAY. He married Kathryn BIONDIC on Aug. 7, 1949, in Granger, Iowa.
Jack lived in Mountain Home for 37 years, moving from Morris in 1972. He was a real estate entrepreneur, the founder of SHAY Enterprises and SHAY'S Appliance, and he was past president of the Twin Lakes Homebuilders' Association.
He enjoyed traveling, attending auctions, collecting just about anything, such as antiques and collector cars. He was also a private pilot.
Jack SHAY is survived by his wife, Kathryn SHAY; sons, Tom SHAY of Morris, Kelly (Patty) SHAY, Michael (Susan) SHAY and Tim SHAY, all of Mountain Home; daughter, Jacqueline SHAY PARKHILL of Branson, Mo.; brother, Dennis SHAY of Morris; and grandchildren, Jack SHAY, Brian ROBERTSON, Brendan SHAY, Katie SHAY, Erin CARLI, Aric SHAY, Matt SHAY, Jimmy SHAY, Ryder PARKHILL and Morgan PARKHILL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Services for Mr. SHAY will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, with Reverend Stan SWIDERSKI officiating.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will be at the Baxter Memorial Gardens, Mountain Home, Ark.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks or the Twin Lakes Homebuilders' Association Scholarship Fund.
