OBITUARY ~ DALE HENRY KETTLE

Dale KETTLE, 86, of Altoona, formerly of Creston, died Aug. 26, 2011, at Altoona Nursing and Rehab Center in Altoona. Masonic services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday August 30, 2011 at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston near the junction of highway 25 and 34. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Mt. Ayr. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Memorials are to be established. Dale Henry KETTLE, son of Myrtle Mae (BEAN) Kettle and Henry Allen KETTLE was born July 25, 1925 in Ringgold County near Delphos, Iowa. He graduated from Blockton High School. After graduation Dale served his country in the United States Army.

Dale was united in marriage to Margaret Rose (SHAY) on September 19, 1952 in St. Joseph, Mo. They settled in the Blockton area where he farmed raising cattle and hogs. In 1968 they moved to Maryville, Mo. where he worked as a meat cutter for Northwest Missouri State University until returning to Blockton in 1971. At that time he returned to farming. In 1973 they moved to Mt Ayr and he worked for a co-op until moving to Knoxville where he began working as an insurance agent. Dale moved to Phoenix and Sedona Ariz. where he worked as a park manager for a mobile home park. Dale returned to Iowa and worked as a condominium manager in Des Moines, Ia., until 1999 when he retired and moved back to Creston.

Dale was a 3rd degree Mason for over 50 years at the Bethany Masonic Lodge #320 and was a district Lecturer.

Dale is survived by a daughter: Lu Ann KETTLE of Des Moines, Ia.; two sisters: Mable SMITH of Springfield, Mo. and Jean HAIDSIAK of Clearfield, Ia.

He was preceded by; his parents; his wife: Margaret in 2009; brother: Byron; sisters: Mildred and Marjorie.
