OBITUARY ~ RAY WILBER MERCER
Ray Wilber MERCER was born on Friday, February 19, 1926 at the family farm in Taylor County, Iowa. He was the son of Ervin B. and Lola Judy RUSCO MERCER. Ray died peacefully at his home east of Bedford, Iowa.
Ray was united in marriage to Phyllis June MINNICK on April 27, 1946 at Grant City, Missouri and to this union one son, Elvin, was born.
Ray was a farmer and he worked for several years at the Bedford Sale Barn and for Dr. Jim LUCAS.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Phyllis on January 18, 1996 and their son Elvin; infant brothers, Ralph and Raymond; and sisters, Catherine DAVIS and Goldie JACKSON.
He is survived by his brothers, R.C. MERCER and wife Virginia of Olympia, Washington, Rexel MERCER of Albion, Iowa, Junior MERCER and wife Ailene and Eugene MERCER and wife Joyce, all of Gladbrook, Iowa, Marvin MERCER of Medford, Oregon and Howard H. MERCER and wife Annette of Cowan, Tennessee as well as many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services were at the Athelstan Cemetery, Athelstan, Iowa on Saturday, October 2, 1999 at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Alan RUSK officiating.
Interment was in the Athelstan Cemetery, Athelstan.
Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home of Clearfield, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
