OBITUARY - MRS. H. G. SCOTT.

Grace Gertrude BALDWIN was born September 16, 1876, at Leon, Iowa. She was the older daughter of John D. and Sarah BALDWIN. She passed through the Leon public schools, being a normal healthy girl and at the age of sixteen joined the Christian church of Leon, where she continued to hold her membership until her death.

Friendship ripened into love and she married on April 24, 1895, to H. G. SCOTT, of Lamoni. They left shortly afterward for Mountain Grove, Mo., where they spent a year and then returned to Iowa. They have since lived in Ringgold and Decatur counties and have made their home on their farm just east of Lamoni for the past twelve years. This has been the home where they have raised their family.

Mrs. SCOTT was on of those cheeful individuals who always have a hearty laugh and a cheerful smile. The neighbors always felt that she was one who could cheer them and one who could sympathize. She devoted considerable time to their home and to the raising of their family and their home has been known throughout the community as a true home. But she shared that home with her many friends and many were the folk who enjoyed a good meal and a pleasant visit in her home. She was a christian above all and the qualities which go to make up the finest character were all found in her life. She was interested inthe work of the Methodist church in Lamoni and the men who have served as pastors always found her willing to do her part and ever showed an interest in its success. Her life and character can be summed up as a christian wife, mother and friend. There is no higher tribute that can be paid to her.

She took sick on Saturday evening November 11, and none thought it was especially serious but she passed away quickly on Monday evening. It was a distinct shock to everyone and hardly believable that Mrs. SCOTT was gone. Her passing gives us another loved one and friend on the other shor who waits for us when our time shall come. To say that we each feel a distinct loss is but to express it mildly. There is no one on earth who can fill her place and we can never forget this great loss.

She leaves her husband, H. G. SCOTT; her daughter, Aileen M. WOOD, of Rosetown, Sasktchewan (sic); Ralph, Darrel who is attending the university at Iowa City, and Francis. Also her sister, Mrs. S. P. NOWLAN, of Chicago, beside a host of friends in and about Lamoni.

Funeral services were from the home Sunday afternoon in charge of Rev. J. Vincent GRAY. Music was furnished by the Christian choir of Leon, accompanied by Mrs. WOODARD of Leon. Mrs. Raymond McELROY of Lamoni also sang a solo. Interment was in Leon cemetery.
