DEATH of MRS. H. W. FENDER
Mrs. Frances FENDER, 74 years of age, died yesterday (Wednesday) at two a.m., after an illness of less than a week's duration. Mrs. FENDER was taken ill Friday with a severe cold, but her condition was not such as to cause alarm and it was thought good progress was being made toward recovery until during the night she became suddenly worse and at two a.m. life passed out. She died at the home of Mrs. Rebecca MITCHELL in north Mount Ayr where she expected to make her home during the winter. Her son Orville, of Carbondale, Colo., visited her about two weeks ago and was intending to take her to his home, but found her so comfortably situated that it was decided she should remain in Mount Ayr during the winter.
Mrs. FENDER, who was the widow of the late H. W. FENDER, was one of the early settlers of Ringgold county and was held in high esteem. Since the death of her husband she has made her home with her sons, Ralph of Denver, Colo., Roy of Jamesport, Mo., Ira, Orville and Earl of Carbondale, Colo.
Funeral arrangements had not been announced at the hour the Record-News went to press.
