OBITUARY - MRS. DUFTY.
Florence Adeltha HIGDAY was born May 19, 1852, at Evansville, Wis. [the daughter of Henry Dunjam and Pauline (POTTER) HIGDAY]. On November 9, 1874, she was married at LeMars, Iowa, to Arthur Wood DUFTY.
Seven children were born to this union: H. H. [Herbert Henry] DUFTY, of Tingley; Mrs. Myrah [Sarah] LONG, of Des Moines; Mrs. Maude [Elvina] KNIES, of Keokuk; Murland A[rthur] DUFTY, of Torrington, Wyo.; Mrs. Myrtle [Lydia] DADY, of Beaconsfield; Mrs. Lavon [Ada "Lavonne"] AKERS, of Beaconsfield; Mable Florence DUFTY, who died in infancy.
At the age of thirteen she was converted and baptized in the Baptist church at Indianapolis, Ind., and lived a consistent christian life. She delighted in the Lord's work and entered into its activities for years, having been especially active in Sunday school work. Of late years she was unable to attend services regularly and take active part but still her interest was not abated.
For a number of years she was a constant and patient sufferer and the came as a welcome release.
Besides a sorrowing husband and children to mourn her loss there are eighteen grandchildren and one brother, Joseph HIGDAY, of Pleasanton, Kan.
Burial took place at Tingley [Cemetery], Iowa.

NOTE: Florence Adeltha (HIGDAY) DUFTY died on June 4, 1922, Keokuk, Iowa. She was interred at Tingley Cemetery, Tingley, Ringgold County, Iowa. Some genealogical records state that Florence was born at Cortland, Cortland County, New York. Arthur Wood DUFTY, husband of Florence Adeltha (HIGDAY), was born in Ontario, Canada, on October 2, 1852, the son of John Thomas and Sarah Ann (KEATLY) DUFTY. The DUFTY family moved from England to Canada, then to Minnesota, and finally settled in Iowa. Mabel DUFTY, daughter of Florence & Arthur, was born September 25, 1891, and died February 28, 1894 with interment at Tingley Cemetery. Herbert Henry DUFTY, son of Florence & Arthur, was born on Decmeber7, 1876, LeMars in Plymouth County, Iowa, and died in 1961 with interment at Tingly Cemetery. Herbert was the husband of Julia Catherine (AMBROSIER) (1879-1960), and the couple were the parents of Loretta, Florence Muriel, Horton Arthur, and Helen Reba DUFTY. Julia Catherine (AMBROSIER) DUFTY, wife of Herbert Henry, was born in Ohio, the daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth AMBROSIER. She was interred at Tingley Cemetery.
