On September 18, 1954, Warren was born to Warren Sr. and Jean (Stevens) Hunsberger.

How do you capture the life of Warren Maurice Hunsberger Jr, in just a few short paragraphs? One of Warren's favorite quotes was, "Every man dies, not every man really lives." Warren truly lived. A man of integrity, faith and joy who left a lasting legacy of love.

Warren lived a life devoted to Jesus; if you knew Warren, you knew that Jesus saved him as a young man, and forever changed the trajectory of the Hunsberger family. He was deeply devoted to his beloved wife of 50 years, Gay Ellen. Together they obeyed God's high calling on their lives, impacting generations for the kingdom of God with grace, humility, and strength.

He was the proud father of seven children who had the ultimate honor of calling him dad. His sons' best friend, and his daughters' first love; Warren was present in every season of their lives. His booming voice echoed at sporting events, choir performances, and each of their weddings where he stood as officiant. First as a father, and then as a friend, his love shaped each of them into the men and women they are today. Though his absence leaves an immense void, they will continue to build on the unshakable spiritual foundation that he laid.

To his 31 grandchildren, he was a beloved Papa. The source of birthday songs, tickle traps, Lego masterpieces, Donald Duck impressions, Cyclone football, famous blueberry pancakes, and Sunday sermons; these memories will be cherished for a lifetime. Praying for each by name, Warren's greatest desire was that every one of his grandchildren would know and serve the Father.

Warren served faithfully as head pastor of Valley Assembly and Christian Life where his sincere love for each member made them feel like family. Valuing genuine connection, his friendship and leadership transformed numerous families as they learned to walk closer with Jesus.

Because Warren knew the power of Jesus' sacrifice, and fully embraced God's grace, he dedicated himself to leading others into freedom, as he faithfully served as director of Teen Challenge of the Midlands for 30 years. The number of lives he spiritually fathered cannot be counted, and his influence changed generations for God's glory. His leadership and fatherly love will forever impact this ministry that was so close to his heart.

Our family had the immense blessing of being with him in his final days, surrounding him with love and singing a beloved song he once sang over each of his babies, Jesus, Jesus, Jesus. As he entered eternity, we believe the Father welcomed him with a smile and the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

Although the thought of gathering without him is heartbreaking, we know the only thing Warren will love more than worshipping his King forever, is to watch his family continue to love, to laugh, and to gather together. We will carry on the legacy he so beautifully began, until we see him again.

Warren is survived by his wife, Gay Hunsberger; his children, Sarah (Wes) Farrand, Michael (Megan) Hunsberger, Isaac (Beth) Hunsberger, Elisabeth (Brandon) Avalos, Anna (Anthony) Terronez, Sam (Brooke) Hunsberger, and Hannah (Nate) Washington; his siblings, Lauren (Paul) Welch, Wes (Mark Holub) Hunsberger, and JR (Michelle) Hunsberger; 31 grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Hunsberger Sr. and Jean (Stevens) Hunsberger.
