Des Moines, IowaMy dear Mrs. Lanigan,
Mr. Lanigan was in to see me this morning, and gave me an itemized account of the things he is doing. I beg to advise that I think that no court would give you more than what Mr. Lanigan is doing at the present time. He has shown me where he has sent you money and groceries during the month of October, in the amount of $50.00, and this is really better than the court would give you if you asked for an order. So, under the circumstances, I believe you are doing fairly well, and advise that you let well enough alone. Of course, if Mr. Lanigan refuses to do his duties,you can proceed to compel him to do so, but under the conditions, I would not go to any expense of time or money, because I do not think you could do any better than what you are doing at the present time.
I am, Very Truly yours,
John A. HollandTranscriber note {Letter was dated November 2, 1918. I don't think I am related to this Lanigan family. Letter was found in Safety Deposit Box at Central State Bank of Des Moines. Box was opened and contents were removed May 11, 1923. I was sent these letters ,and other info by the Iowa Genealogical Sciety of Iowa as I am a member and this could be my family. I didn't want the contents to be thrown away or discarded in one way or another. Just thought somebody may be able to use this info.}
