Services Saturday for Mrs. Donahue dies at Mason City

Funeral services were held here Saturday for Mrs. Matt Donahue, 65, who died last Wednesday at Mercy Hospital in Mason City. Mrs. Donahue had suffered a broken hip in a fall in mid-February and had been at Spencer Municipal Hospital before being transferred to Mason City.

The Rev. William Ortmann celebrated the Requiem Mass at Sacred Heart Church here and the Rev. C. E. Farrelly of Emmetsburg gave the eulogy. Burial followed In the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Hitchcock Funeral Home was in charge.

Pallbearers were Gust Hoerchler Basil Murray, Lowell Anderson, F. K. Dubbert, Charles Linnan, and Loren Wilder.

Mrs. Donahue was born Elva Mather, daughter of William and Emma Mather. In 1924 she married Matt Donahue at Pocahontas and they farmed near Pocahontas and later at Laurens before retiring and moving into Laurens.

She is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Robert Berry of Mason City, and four grandchildren.
