Beverly Renken, 72 of Alcester, SD, passed away surrounded by her husband and children on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at Westwood Specialty Care in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron, Iowa. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Akron. Visitation with the family present will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.
Beverly Ann Friske was born on January 28, 1952 in Akron, Iowa to Arthur and Goldie (Hoffman) Friske. She graduated from Akron High School in 1970 and as an LPN from WIT in Sioux City, Iowa in 1971.
Beverly met Jim Renken on Valentine’s Day in 1972. They were united in marriage on May 23, 1973.
After they were married, they lived in Spencer, IA, Larimore, ND, Rock Rapids, IA, Akron, IA, and Spink, SD before moving to Alcester, SD in 2008. Beverly and Jim had five children: Timothy, Matthew, Angela, and twins: Jacob and Jeremiah. She briefly worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City as well as a nursing home in Rock Rapids, Iowa, but she primarily stayed home raising their children.
Beverly enjoyed doing family genealogy and crafting: painting, scrapbooking, and cardmaking. One of her fondest memories was painting a mural for a church.
She volunteered as a 4-H leader, Sunday school teacher, and a deacon.
Beverly is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim; four sons: Timothy (Kim) and children, Hannah, Heidi, Harbor, and Hazel, Matthew (Lindsey) and children, Rachel, Mariah, and Violet, Jacob (Kate) and children, Raylan, Emersyn, Natalie, and Elliott, Jeremiah (Cassandra) and children, Daenton, Rawsen, and Korbyn; one daughter: Angela Bernard and son, Charlie; and other extended relatives.
Beverly is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Goldie Friske; sister, Delores Friske; and son in law, Charles Bernard.
