Services Held for Lydia A. Thompson
Services for Lydia A. Thompson were held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 1987, at the Friends Meeting House, rural Paullina, Iowa. The honorary pallbearers were Ivan Thompson, John Griffith, Roy Knight and Ernest Wilson. The pallbearers were Russell Henderson, Byron Augsperger, George Pingrey, Mike Thompson, Ellis Standing and Alfred Fawcett. Interment was at Friends Cemetery, rural Paullina, Iowa, under the direction of the Gaudian-Eldridge Funeral Home.
OBITUARY
Lydia Agnes Thompson, the daughter of Archibald and Anna Meltvedt Henderson, was born January 31, 1901, in rural Paullina. She attended schools in Mapleside and later the Friends Boarding School in Ohio.
In March of 1925, she was united in marriage to Arthur Standing in Paullina. After their marriage, the couple lived at Earlham, Iowa for many years until moving to Primghar in 1948. The couple remained in Primghar until Arthur's passing on January 21, 1970 in Des Moines.
Lydia remained in Primghar for two years until moving to a home at Mapleside. Lydia married Isaac Thompson on November 27, 1976, at the family home in rural Paullina. The couple remained at the family home in Mapleside until a few weeks ago when Lydia moved to the Earlham Care Center in Earlham, Iowa. She passed away at the Care Center on Tuesday, May 19, 1987, reaching the age of 86 years, 3 months and 18 days.
Lydia is remembered by friends and relatives for her caring and loving Spirit.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Isaac of Paullina; two daughters and sons-in-law, Reva and John Griffith of Kansas City, Missouri and Wanda and Roy Knight of Earlham, Iowa; one step son and daughter-in-law, Ivan and Carol Thompson of Paullina; 10 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two brothers: Walter and Arthur Henderson, both of Paullina; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; one grandson, Christopher; her parents; two sisters and three brothers
