August Krueger was born in Germany, October 6, 1869, and died at his home eleven miles north of Hartley on June 4, 1935, being 65 years, 7 months, and 28 days old.
Mr. Krueger came to America in the fall of 1893 and settled at Lake Park, Iowa. On June 17th, 1895, Mr. Krueger was united in marriage to Dora Mundt and seven children were born to this union, four daughters and three sons: Minnie Hauptly of Wesley, Iowa; Dora Madison of Billings, Montana; Harry, Paul, Ida Munster and Edward of Hartley, and Anna Pipinpaugh of Everly. Besides his widow and children he leaves to mourn his loss, eleven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Anna Rost, and many relatives and friends. One sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Krueger was baptised and confirmed in Germany and attended the Evangelical church in Lake Park. He was a member of the Silver Lake Lodge No 527, A F and A M, Lake Park, having been raised July 3, 1900.
Ever since he was hurt in an accident in Hartley last year, he has been in failing health and has known that he did not have long for this world. His personality, good cheer, friendliness and humor is remembered by his friends. A father's love, work, sacrifice, and interest in his family is ever pleasant to recall and helps the children and mother to reface life with its trials and burdens.
Funeral serviced were held at the Methodist church in Hartley at 2:00 o'clock on Firday with Rev. E.J Plummer officiating. The Hartley Masonic Lodge attended the service, conducting the services at the church and at the cemetery with Mr. Lampman, of Primghar, putting on the work. Music was furnished by a male quatette.
