Funeral services for Arvella Atwill, 86, Wilton, were held Aug. 1, 1988 at the Wilton Grace United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Robert J. Davis Mayo officiating. Deb Moore was the organist. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery.

Arvella Atwill died July 28 at Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty.

The daughter of James and Cora Funk Atwill, she was born Oct. 14, 1901 in Muscatine. She had been a member of the Wilton United Methodist church since 1919. She was a 1924 graduate of the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines and had served as an American Red Cross nurse. She was also a nurse at various hospitals throughout the country and was Wilton's school nurse for 5 years.

She is survived by several cousins and was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
