Funeral services for Viola Forbes, 64, West Liberty, were held June 5, 1987 at the Cedar Valley United Methodist church, with the Rev. Joe Martin Lee officiating. Pallbearers were Kenneth Weber, Ronald Rath, Donald Forbes, Steve Krotz, Donald Krotz and Dwight Duwa. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Forbes died June 2 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.

The daughter of William and Geneva Klein Krotz, she was born Nov. 28, 1922 in Washington county. She married Warren Forbes Nov. 25, 1942 in Iowa City and the couple farmed in the Lone Tree and Cedar Valley communities before moving to West Liberty in 1976.

Mrs. Forbes was a member of the church, the United Methodist Women and the Cedar Valley Community club. She was a cook and baked cakes for special occasions.

She is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Larry Forbes, Iowa City and Duane Forbes, West Liberty; a daughter, Reta Callahan, Dysart; 7 grandchildren; 6 brothers, Lloyd Krotz, Cedar Rapids; Hubert Krotz and Leo Krotz, both of Iowa City; Leonard Krotz, Solon; Wilbur Krotz, Columbus Junction and Walter Krotz, Ainsworth and 2 sisters, Evelyn Boise, Wellman and Alma Kucera, Riverside. She was preceded in death by her parents.
