Funeral services for Chester Melvin Coder, 69, Wilton, were held at Muscatine Dec. 20 with the Rev. Paul Pennington officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, Cranston, with military rites. Honorary pallbearers were Louis Erwin, Harold Wilkerson, Leonard Eichelberger and Harold (Short) Conley. Florence Hetzler was organist.
Mr. Coder died at Lutheran hospital, Mesa, Ariz.
The son of Chester N. and Anna Eliza Hackett Coder, he was born in Muscatine county Feb. 24, 1917. He was married to Florence Smith at Fredonia Aug. 14, 1937. He had lived at Wilton since 1952 and had been a feed salesman for Moorman Manufacturing Co. He was a life member of the Oak Grove church.
He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Frieda) Howe, Bedford; Mrs. Merle (Marie) Gronewold, Tipton and Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) Conover, Wilton; 7 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
