Funeral services for Irene Rockafellow, 72, West Liberty, were held Aug. 28 at Snider Funeral Home in West Liberty, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.

Mrs. Rockafellow died Aug. 25 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City after an extended illness.

The daughter of Lee and Susie Valett Tharp, she was born March 16, 1914 in Moscow. She married Lowell Rockafellow Dec. 20, 1933 in West Liberty.

She had worked in the housekeeping and dietary departments of University hospitals in Iowa City. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Rebekah Lodge and the Royal Neighbors of America.

Mrs. Rockafellow is survived by her husband; 2 sons, Howard, Odessa, Texas and Roger, Lubbock, Texas; 3 brothers, Arthur Tharp and Orin Tharp, both of Moscow and Thomas Tharp, Muscatine; a sister, Lila Thompson, Muscatine; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
