Funeral services for Charles Grant Smith, 61, Atalissa, were held July 3 at the Presbyterian church in Wilton, with burial in the Overman cemetery in Atalissa.

Mr. Smith died June 30 at University hospitals in Iowa City after an extended illness.

The son of Grant and Ada McGill Smith, he was born Sept. 2, 1924 in Muscatine county. He married Jean Conwell Dec. 28, 1949 in Iowa City. He was a lifelong Muscatine county farmer and a member and past master of the Ionic Masonic Lodge in Atalissa.

He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Connie Jean Smith-Nevins, Los Angeles, Calif. and Marianne Smith, Iowa City;; 2 sons, Robert, Atalissa and Charles, Chicago, Ill. and 2 sisters, Zella Statler, Wilton and Jean Burns, Muscatine. He was preceded in death by a brother.
