19 March 2025Samuel Ray Jepson
July 25, 1949 – February 16, 2025Samuel (Sam) Jepson, devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 16th at Stanford Medical Center.
Sam was born in Moorhead, IA to Howard and May Jepson. He was the youngest of four siblings and grew up on the family farm. Sam graduated from East Monona High School in 1967. He married Cathy in 1970 in the Lutheran Church in Soldier, IA.
Sam attended Wayne State College, served in the National Guard, and then started to work in agriculture. Sam and Cathy lived in and near Moorhead, raising their family until 1986 when the family moved to Manteca, California.
Sam was a devoted father who always did whatever it took to support his family. He spent many years as a laboratory technician in a materials fabrication company, working graveyard shifts. He still found time to attend baseball games, band concerts, Boy Scout events, gymnastics meets, Rainbow Girl events, and all of the many things that a busy family does.
Sam spent his retirement reading Westerns, watching Westerns, cheering on his beloved (much loved) Los Angeles Dodgers, and lamenting his beloved Chicago Bears.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Cathy, his brother Bruce, his children Spencer (Jessica), Austin (Jennifer), and Tiffany (Heath Vanderpool) and his grandchildren Sam, Kate, Logan, Hadley, Zoe, and Archer.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Howard and May Jepson, sisters Janine Thompson and Virginia Patton, and parent-in-law Bryce and Alicia Lee.
