Sandra “Sandy” Hoffman, 77, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 26, 2024, at the First Christian Church, Onawa, Iowa, with Pastor Clif Cockburn, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Sandy’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, July 25, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Sandra Ann was born December 8, 1946 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the daughter of Charles and Marion (Tyson) Buchberger. She attended Appleton, Wisconsin school until she was twelve years old. Sandy then moved to Onawa and graduated from West Monona Highschool with the class of 1965. She furthered her education at Western Iowa Tech and received her RN degree. Sandy also completed certification for Geriatric nursing.
Sandy Buchberger and Ronald Hoffman were united into marriage April 7, 1972 at the First Christian Church in Onawa. To this union two children were born, James and Mary.
Sandy worked at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting for 32 ˝ years as an RN and later as an RNC. She loved her job and caring for all of the residents. Sandy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren.
She enjoyed knitting, sewing, needlepoint, cooking, and peep candy. Christmas was her favorite holiday and she loved making Christmas cookies. Sandy helped make items for the annual Pleasant View auction every year. Sandy was a member of the First Christian Church in Onawa.
Survivors include her daughter, Mary Hoffman of Moorhead, Iowa; grandchildren, Rein (Lia) Gashe of Manilla, Iowa, Raina (David) Henderson of Moorhead, Iowa, and Sara (Jermey) Theobald of Onawa, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Nonally, Osirus, Nylah, Kyrie, Raevyn, Maddy, and Xander; brother, John (Kathy) Buchberger of Kimberly, Wisconsin; two sisters, Lynn Christensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Connie Ingram of Pensacola, Florida; sister-in-law, Patricia Hoffman; nieces and nephews, Sonya Baker, Troy (Bridget) Christensen, Chris (Mike) Probst, and Lisa Cooper; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marion (Tyson) Buchberger; husband, Ronald Hoffman; son, James Hoffman; nephew, Joshua Buchberger; brother-in-law, Pete Hoffman; maternal grandparents, John and Pearl (Hittle) Tyson; paternal grandparents, Wolfgang and Mary (Model) Buchberger; and an uncle and aunt that raised Sandy, William (Mary) Courchane.
