Wanda Lee Heisler, 97, of Globe, Arizona, formerly of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Monday, April 22, 2024, at Faubush Family Homes, Globe, Arizona.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, May 4, 2024, at the First Christian Church, in Onawa, Iowa, with Elder Lonnie Campbell, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Wanda’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Blencoe, Iowa. A visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2024 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Wanda Lee was born on December 12, 1926, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Matilda (Carr) James. She attended first through third grade in Blencoe, third through eleventh grade in Onawa, and Mapleton High School.

Wanda and Francis “Swede” Heisler were united in marriage on February 28, 1945, in Onawa, Iowa. Swede passed away July 25, 2008.

She worked in Ohio during World War II. Wanda was a deputy recorder for Monona County for several years. She was also a title officer for real estate escrow for many years.

Wanda was a member of the First Christian Church. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include her children, Linda Kay Simmons of Corona de Tucson, Arizona, Leslie Richard (Joy) Heisler of Tonto Basin, Arizona, and LeRoy (Lucille) Heisler of Tonto Basin, Arizona; grandchildren, LaRee (Todd) Wilson of Tucson, Arizona, Lynette Hoff of Vail, Arizona, Renae (Ben) Sweeten of Turin, Iowa, Rhonda Leib of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Clint (Jody) Heisler of Taylor, Arizona, Jennifer (James) Manning of Taylor, Arizona, James B (Denise) Heisler of Snowflake, Arizona, Janette (Brad) Hatch of Shumway, Arizona; nineteen great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Darlene Woodward; and many other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis “Swede” Heisler; parents, Earl and Matilda (Carr) James; parents-in-law, Arthur Leroy and Irene Lucille (Hyatt) Heisler; three sisters, Elva Uhl, Leta (Charles) Belt, and Lila (Troy W.B. “Beady”) Barclay; brother, Robert (Kay) James; brother-in-law, Elwin Beers “Bid” Woodward; and son-in-law, Harold Simmons.
