Barbara “Barb” Jean Ross, 69, of Onawa, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.

A celebration of life service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, with Darren C. E. Goslar officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Barb’s obituary. A visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday January 20, 2024, at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.

Barbara Jean was born March 2, 1954, in Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Dale and Wilma (Miller) Fender. Barb grew up in Onawa, Iowa. She attended West Monona High School and graduated with the class of 1972.

Barb and Les Ross were united in marriage on May 9, 1992, in Onawa, Iowa.

She worked as a manager of Dollar General and Casey’s. Barb was the president of Ross Enterprise for many years.

Barb enjoyed sewing, bowling, golfing, bingo, card games, and games with her children and grandchildren. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Barb was a natural caregiver. In Les’ eyes, “Barb was perfect”.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-one happy and grateful years, Les Ross of Onawa, Iowa; mother, Wilma Johnson of Onawa, Iowa; children, Teresa Young of Nevada, Iowa, and Larry (Summer) Murdock of Creston, Iowa; grandchildren, Nicole (Joshua) Parham, Donovan (Brenna) Uehling, Tressa Uehling, and Evan Murdock; great-grandchildren, Calen, Faith, Ellaine, and Beckett; brothers, Mike (friend Mary) Fender, and Dave (Kathy) Fender of Onawa, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Larry Ross, Lenny (Carol) Ross, and Lowell (Kay) Ross; sisters-in-law, Marcy (Dean) Janssen, Mary (Norm Wordekemper) Binderup, and Christine Griffith; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Dale Fender; parents-in-law, George “Lyle” and Margaret Ross; sisters-in-law, Marvil Summerfield, Marilyn Ross, and Michelle Fender; and brother-in-law, Leon Ross.
