Weds Woman Twice His Age

Marshalltown, Ia, June 26 – Mrs. Hattie Sawyer, 41 years old, a widow and mother of nine children, was married at Toledo to Carl W. Thorn, 20 years of age. Both are residents of Marshalltown, but went to Toledo to have the ceremony performed because Clerk Lounsherry refused to grant the necessary license , the boy having the consent of only one parent , his mother, who is a younger woman than her new daughter-in-law.
