Lammie Van Den Broek
November 9, 1931 ~ January 10, 2012 (age 80)Lammie Van Den Broek, daughter of Thys Fledderus and Frederika Reinders, was born in Diever, Drenthe, The Netherlands. She passed away at the Oskaloosa Care Center on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at the age of eighty.
On January 17, 1952, Lammie was united in marriage to Teunis Van Den Broek in The Netherlands. Shortly after their marriage they moved to the United States and became U.S. citizens on April 29, 1957.
Lammie and Teunis farmed in the Leighton area for thirty-one years. Lammie enjoyed being a housewife and caring for their seven children: Cornie, Fred, Jean, Theo, Willis, Kenneth, and Rita.
Lammie and Teunis were members of the Leighton Christian Reformed Church and later the First Christian Reformed Church in Pella. Lammie was active in the Gideon's Auxiliary and the Mary of Bethany Society. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flower garden, baking, knitting, raising chickens, reading her Bible, listening to Christian radio, and family time, especially spending time with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory are: her seven children; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters living in The Netherlands; sister-in-law, Ria Branderhorst of Pella; and many in-laws in the Netherlands and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Teunis, in 1990.
Lammie will be remembered for her patience, for how she endured and persevered through hard times, and for raising her children in Christian ways and life.
