The infant child of Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Robinson met a terrible death last Thursday afternoon.
It was out playing with the other children, and sometime during the afternoon wandered away from them. When it was missed and search instituted, the little one was found head down in a swill barrel in the back part of the lot. Life was extinct, and had been for some time before the finding of the body. There was but a small amount of swill in the barrel, but the child (it was about 18 months old) was not strong enough to turn itself or get its head out of the liquid.
Mr. Robinson was at the state fair that day. Mrs. Robinson had given the pigs their slop, but had been careful to replace the cover on the barrel and had also placed a weight upon it The little one bad probably found some way to remove both.
It was one of the terrible accidents that sometimes occur in spite of the utmost precaution.
Funeral services were held at the residence of the bereaved parents on Friday at 3 p. m., conducted by Rev. Crewdson. The Interment was made at DeWitt Cemetery.
